What is it like at Avondale RSA, we wondered? The reviews were mixed and old, so we decided to find out for ourselves. I have been to many RSAs around West Auckland and beyond. Pt Chev is my club; I know an RSA when I see one! However, we hadn’t been to Avondale, so when the club started advertising their entertainment in the Beacon we thought we’d check them out.
We visited on a Sunday night, when After Midnight were playing. The music created great ambience, and there were up to ten couples dancing. The food came out and was the equal of any top RSA we have been to, including the great food at Piha RSA and Jimmy the Fish’s offerings at Grey Lynn RSC.
Kerrie commented, “Awesome night out with great band, beautiful food and a fab vibe. Heaps of people dancing and having a great night out.”
Some random information: While there, Kerrie found out that her grandfather was a founding member, life member, and for a few years, secretary there. He was also Avondale’s station master. Who knew?
Avondale RSA, we had a thoroughly good night, and we’ll be back.
Editor’s note: This review was unsolicited by Avondale RSA, who had no knowledge of our visit. As always, we paid our own way.
