On Christmas Eve at Church of the Saviour, Symeon Dove was pronounced the winner of The Great Sheep Hunt of 2016. Symeon will proudly carry the title until next year.
The sheep trail took place in the last weeks of December. People went around looking for the lost sheep in all the shops, taking note of their names and then voting for their favourite sheep. 39 shops in the Blockhouse Bay area took part by hosting a sheep and naming it. There were some very imaginative names, but it was I C Well hiding at Visique Blockhouse Bay and sporting a fancy pair of specs who won the popular vote.
Other creative contenders were Dewey at the Blockhouse Bay Library, Dr House at Harcourts, Fleece Navidad at the Community Centre, Baaa-tholom-Ewe at Church of the Saviour and Westpac Woolies at Westpac.
