Hearing Therapy, a free service to help New Zealand adults live well with hearing loss, is now available at Blockhouse Bay Community Centre. Hearing therapist Therese Leach will attend the centre every Monday to provide hearing tests and offer practical advice for managing hearing loss and conditions like tinnitus, and help with communication difficulties. She can also give information on hearing aids and other assistive technology like smoke alarms and amplified telephones, and advice about funding options. Therese says she’s excited to offer hearing therapy clinics to people in Blockhouse Bay, and the community centre is an ideal venue. “Hearing loss can have such a big impact on day-to-day life, but it doesn’t have to. We can help people make a plan to meet their hearing goals – whether it’s hearing better at work or social events, or just enjoying better communication with family and friends.” Hearing Therapy is free and funded by the Ministry of Health for New Zealanders aged 16+.
