Movie Review #3965 THE MEG. Asked a friend overseas what this was like and she said dopiest movie ever, bl**dy fantastic! And that probably sums it up. All here; wronged hero, ex-wife, love interest, resident a**hole, sacrificial lambs, comic foil & last but not least cute kid. Jaws on steroids has been terrorizing everyone so in comes Brit chop socky man Jason Statham to sort the little fishy out. A few little unexpected thrills and spills but pretty much standard monster fare with ships, subs, oil rigs, helicopters, dynamite and poison (when all else fails) all deployed to do so. Acting is a bit suspect and the fish is probably the most credible even if it is CGI. Script very formulaic and proceedings quite predictable all thing considered. Not a movie to deliver star performances but in the main all is adequate and quite entertaining. I won’t say don’t miss it but if you do see, you will most likely enjoy. Overall probably a 7/10.
