DP Mrs Crisp makes sure the safe doesn't contain anything dangerous
It was not the pirate gold that some students predicted, but a special treasure nevertheless found recently at Blockhouse Bay Primary School.
The original classroom built in 1920 is currently undergoing a major renovation and the builders made an amazing discovery; a safe used as a time capsule, was buried beneath the floor! This caused much speculation as to what might be in it and there was great excitement as the contents were revealed. Mrs Crisp the DP (pictured) made sure it did not contain anything dangerous! The contents were placed under the floor boards in 1986 - students work, books, a cassette tape, coins, a school map, the roll photos of the school and a newspaper (not the Beacon!) were put into the safe ready for future discovery. The students are now keen to encase a new time capsule in the walls of the building for future students to find. Former pupils are very welcome to visit and look through the items to see their or hear contributions again, 32 years after they created them.
