Lynfield to Blockhouse Bay and New Lynn
Last month the Beacon reported that Auckland Transport (AT) had reneged on the 191 bus route they had promised in 2016.
Following the petition of over 600 residents promoted by MPs Michael Wood and Deborah Russell, and Roskill Community Voice local board members, AT has now agreed to introduce a bus service from The Avenue, Lynfield via Commodore Drive to Blockhouse Bay and New Lynn.
The hourly service will be of great value to senior citizens in Lynfield, including those in the Ryman Village now under construction. It is planned to commence in late December.
Demand for the service includes access to the Blockhouse Bay library and banks, and Lynfield College. Lynfield residents will also gain better access to the western rail network, jobs on the Rosebank Peninsula, Lynnmall and movies.
Puketapapa Local Board transport lead David Holm thanked AT and all those who took part in the campaign and urges residents to make good use of the service so that its future can be secured including opportunities for greater frequency.
