Blockhouse Bay School has been learning how to strengthen our sense of belonging and understanding kindness, responsibility and community participation.
In our classes we have learned about strategies to deal with bullying (as a target of bullying and as a bystander). To raise awareness for these we had our own ‘Pink Shirt’ and ‘Colourful Lunch’ Day. We invited everyone to wear pink or bright colours and to bring a colourful lunch to eat.
Wearing a pink shirt started in Canada and pink has become the colour of anti-bullying. It was wet but we managed to have our parade in Te Whau (our school hall). Everybody looked bright and colourful and supportive of our message. After that we enjoyed looking at and eating all of our colourful lunches.
